Provision of Data
Today we have provision of data. Yesterday,
We had provision of data. And tomorrow morning,
We shall have provision of data. But today,
Today, we have provision of data. Early summer sunshine
Suffuses the campus,
And today we have provision of data.
This is the main form. And these
are the subsidiary forms, whose use you will see,
When you are given your forms. And this is the essential information,
Which in your case you have not got. The swallows
Swoop and glide, delighting in their freedom,
Which in our case we have not got.
This is the transparency exercise, which is always completed
With an easy stroke of the pen. And please do not let me
Hear anyone say they can see through it. You can do it quite easy
If you have any faith in the process. The dragonflies
Are fragile and motionless, never letting anyone see
Through their transparency exercise.
And this you can see is the column. The purpose of this
Is to be filled with numbers, as you see. We can fill it
Rapidly with information: we call this
Filling the form. On the campus lawns the students make the best of the sun
And the young girls display figures newly freed from winter cladding:
They call it filling the form.
They call it filling the form: it is perfectly easy
If you have any faith in the process: like the form,
And the column, and the row, and the point of it all,
Which in our case we have not got; and the trees
Silent among the campus lawns and the birds going backwards and forwards
For today we have provision of data
